No-one expected this single mother to be arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and killing of an 8-year-old girl. Sandra Cantu’s body was stuffed in a suitcase and hidden it in a pond.
According to Los Angeles County court records Huckaby was convicted in 2006 in Los Angeles for property theft and was due in court Friday to be sentenced for a local January felony burglary conviction.
According to sheriff’s department spokesperson Huckaby is on suicide watch in an observation cell at the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.
Mourners are stopping by Fry Memorial Chapel to pay their respects to Sandra. Visitors are allowed to go in, leave gifts, pray and sign a guestbook sit and watch a slideshow of family photos of Sandra.
Sandra's memorial service at 1 p.m. Thursday is expected to draw thousands of people, with parking space for only 500. It will be at in the West High School gym and cafeteria, 1775 W. Lowell Road, in Tracy.
