Seventy-year-old David Queen fought hard for his life, but in the end, police say he was no match for a 37-year-old man armed with a butcher knife.

Lake County authorities say Queen suffered at least 25 defensive wounds as he tried to stop the attack by one of his tenants, Jason Baker, on February 4.

Baker began renting a room in Queen's house on the 40200 block of Deep Lake Road in Antioch Township a week before the murder.

When another tenant found Queen's body and police could find no sign of Baker, Baker became a suspect, said Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran.

Baker and his girlfriend, Kimberly Caldwell, fled to Kentucky after the murder and that's where Curran said they were found this past weekend.

Baker is charged with first degree murder and Caldwell is charged with obstruction of justice. They're being extradited back to Illinois later this week.

Curran says the motive for the murder may be robbery, though the investigation is continuing into what, if anything, was stolen from Queen.

Below is an evidence photo released by the Lake County Sheriff's Department showing of one of the two knives investigators suspect was used in the attack on Queen.
