
Chicago police have issued an alert for a South Side community following the attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old boy last Friday.
The boy was walking in the 10700 block of South Hamlin about 3:15 p.m. when police say he was approached by three men in a minivan.
The van reportedly drove alongside the teen until one of the suspects jumped out of the van and ordered him to get inside. The teen ran home and the suspect got back in the van with the others and they drove away, according to the alert.
Police say the van was dark brown and dented. There were vertical blinds covering the rear windows.The suspects are described below.
• Offender #1, back seat passenger, male white, 17-19, wearing a blue baseball cap and a dark brown sweatshirt with white lettering.
• Offender #2, driver of the vehicle, a male white, 17-19, blond hair and was wearing a blue shirt
• Offender #3, front seat passenger, male white, 17-19
Anyone with information on the kidnapping attempt or anyone who sees the suspects or the vehicle should call police right away.
