Investigators in Logan County say they are confident the killers of the Gee family are in custody and the case is now moving into the prosecution phase.
At a 2:15 p.m. news conference streamed live on WAND-TV, Logan County Sheriff Steve Nichols said he does not expect any more arrests in the case.
Nichols claimed that early on in the investigation, authorities believed the Gee family knew the killers and the murders were not a random act.
The two men charged in the case are brothers Jason and Christopher Harris.
Jason is 22 and Christopher is 30. Christopher was once married to Nicole Gee, Raymond Gee's 27-year-old daughter.
Once again, Nichols refused to comment on the motive for the killings.
Those who died are Raymond Gee, 46, his wife, Ruth Gee, 39, and children Justina Constant, 16, Dillen Constant, 14, and Austin Gee, 11. A 3-year-old girl survived the attack and remains hospitalized in fair condition and under the temporary guardianship of DFCS.
The bludgeoned bodies of the victims were found September 21. Police have not released the exact time of death or said what weapon was used to beat the victims.
Christopher Harris and Nicole Gee divorced in 2007 but recently resumed a relationship. They have a 9-year-old daughter and a 2-month-old boy together.
Sheriff Nichols would not comment on whether Nicole was ever considered suspect in the case.
Two other women are charged with obstruction of justice. They are Jason's girlfriend, Jennifer Earnest, 24. She and Jason lived together in Armington and Christopher often stayed with them.
Also charged with obstruction is Sara Duncan, 43, of Sarasota, Florida. She is Earnest's mother.
The Bloomington Pantagraph reports Earnest and Duncan both gave police a false alibi as to where Jason was the night of the murders. The Pantagraph says at the time, Duncan was in Illinois visiting her daughter. She has since returned to Sarasota where shewas arrested Wednesday and is jailed on $50,000 bond.
Her daughter is jailed locally also on $50,000 bond. The Harris brothers are denied bond.
Sheriff Nichols said he will be holding no more news conferences. However, he asked people to continue to call the tip line if they have new information that can help in the prosecution. He referred any future questions on evidence to Logan County State's Attorney Mike McIntosh.
