Well, can you believe that it is over! After nearly four months of solo and group musical performances, Ryan Seacrest announced that a new world record 100 million votes had been cast, and in doing so, America selected their next American Idol-Kris Allen. While Kris’s life has and will change in so many ways, one thing is for sure, his hometown, Conway, Arkansas, will always and forever be an extraordinary small town vacation destination.

Conway, located approximately 30 miles from the state capital, Little Rock, is a fantastic locale to explore and enjoy. While in Conway, you’ll find it hard to see all this area has to offer; however, visitors must ensure that they stop over at some of these must see venues. Get out and enjoy the fresh air while walking the Tucker Creek Walker/Bike Trail, discover the site of some of Arkansas first settlers at Cadron Settlement Park, learn how the inhabitants of this region adapted to local conditions at Faulkner County Museum, take sometime to rent a canoe, hike, and enjoy the beach at Woolly Hollow State Park, fish at the largest man-made game and fish commission lake in the United States, Lake Conway, and explore the east and west banks of the Arkansas River at Old Ferry Landing Park and Toad Suck Park. Don’t forget to take the kids to Kiddie Land within the Pickles Gap Village, attend a live performance by the Conway Symphony Orchestra, see a movie at the Silver Moon Cinema, test your skills at three 18 hole golf courses, and view some spectacular works of art at Baum Gallery at University of Central Arkansas.

Good eats include Something Brewing, Jade China, Holly’s Country Cooking, and Stoby’s Restaurant. Conway has numerous accommodations that include Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Hilton Garden Inn.
