New England, comprised of six states that include Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, is home to numerous outstanding vacation destinations. These destinations often are places that hold great historical significance for our country, possess considerable charm and ambiance, have a wide variety of picturesque terrains, and offer short driving distances from one fantastic destination to the next. While many arguments exist as to which vacation destination should be considered as this region’s best, I would like to provide you with an often overlooked jewel that is certainly among this region’s finest travel locations-New Haven, Connecticut.
New Haven, located on the scenic coast of Connecticut and home to the ever so prestigious Yale University, is a fantastic vacation destination that features numerous local area attractions. In particular, tourists will take great pleasure in exploring New Haven’s wide array of fine art galleries and captivating museums. While all of these locations are exceptional, visitors should be sure to view the largest collection of British art at the Yale Center of British Art and stopover to see even more works of art from varying time periods at the Yale University Art Galleries. Tourists should take a peek at Brontosaurus located in the Yale University’s Peabody Museum of Natural History, let the kids imaginations run wild at the Children’s Museum, go ride the trolleys at the Shore Line Trolley Museum, and take sometime to learn about an innovation that was crucial to the start of the Industrial Revolution at the Eli Whitney Museum. While all of these art galleries and museums are top notch, don’t leave area until you've went to a few other outstanding attractions. Go see a recital at the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, watch the birds at the Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, explore over 7,000 rare books and manuscripts at Yale University’s Beinecke Rare Books and Manuscript Library, and catch a show at the Long Wharf and Yale Repertory Theaters.
