Historic Texas travel destination that offers some of the country's best attractions
Certain vacation destinations just capture the essence of what America is all about. These destinations are continued reminders of our great historical struggles of the past and ensure that the courageous conduct of those who fought for freedom remain in the spotlight and are honored and cherished. If you are looking for an exceptional travel destination, I offer to you San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio, easily accessible by the
San Antonio International Airport, is home to one of the most heroic battles of the Texan Revolution, the Battle for the Alamo. The Battle for the Alamo, a conflict between Texan and Mexican forces, was waged for approximately two weeks in 1836. Although the Texan Army was desperately outnumbered while defending the Alamo, they fought gallantly until the Mexicans finally won the battle. The Mexican Army killed nearly all of the Texan defenders. However, after the battle, news spread of the heroism of the Texan forces that had fought at the Alamo greatly reenergizing the entire Texan Army. Eventually, the Mexican Army would be defeated at the Battle of San Jacinto while many in the Texan Army shouted “Remember the Alamo”. The Texan victory was special in that the Mexican president was captured marking an end to this bloody conflict and allowed a brand new nation to form-The Republic Texas. I urge all visitors of San Antonio to go and explore the
Alamo.
While the Alamo is a must see for obvious reasons, tourists of San Antonio will find that this city not only boosts a unique history, but also has some of the country’s best attractions. While the list of attractions is endless, visitors should be sure to keep these local hot spots on their lists. See the dolphins and sea lions at
