IBS, IBD, Autoimmune? Time to get outside
Summer is just around the corner, and warmer weather offers opportunity for those folks who have been staying inside during an unseasonably cold winter and spring. Folks suffering from conditions such as ulcerative colitis and crohn’s (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and other digestive autoimmune conditions, can benefit by getting outside for a few minutes every day.
The late spring and summer sunshine will douse the body with essential vitamin D, a crucial nutrient for those with malabsorption problems, fatigue, and mild depression. Spring air also has a way of relieving the day to day
stress that can contribute to the severity of existing symptoms, and gentle movement will help to relieve achy joints often associated with digestive illnesses. For Billings, Montana dwellers, the surrounding region offers some beautiful rural areas, perfect for a health-inducing, stress-relieving jaunt outdoors away from the city.
The key is to start any new activity slowly, and to be sure to drink plenty of pure water to stay hydrated while spending time outdoors.
