Yesterday, this column talked about Mariah Carey’s new film, Tennessee, which had a very limited opening and earned an average of $675 per screen. Some theaters reported as much as just two people at some screenings. Mariah's fans sent us angry emails that denied the film was a flop.
Mariah Carey is allegedly very depressed about her latest film flop, which follows shortly on the tails of her musical flop, E=MC2. However, there is hope. Mariah debuts her new single, "Obsessed," from her upcoming album titled Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel next week. However, we wonder why Mariah has rushed into this album so much; she just put out an album fourteen months ago.
There is also some good news for Mariah Carey on the film front. She has been getting rave reviews for her bit part as a social worker in Precious, an upcoming Lee Daniels film. Even though the part is very small, we are told that Mariah is milking the film for all she can. She appears to be trying to rip away the spotlight from the real star of the film, Mo' nique. If Mariah succeeds, does that mean she is going to throw Nick Cannon back to the prop department?
