Harry has already been rescued once, but twice? Surely that's asking too much.
Harrys' first and current rescue came in the form of Springerpaw Ranch and the kind hearts of Deb and Bob Bessette who operate the ranch in Tonopah. When they got the call from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) that there was a special needs Cocker Spaniel at the facility, they acted.
It would have been so much easier for MCACC to simply put Harry down. He was clearly not in his best form to be put up for adoption, as can be seen by his photos. But higher hopes for Harry prevailed.
Springerpaw Ranch took Harry in, but that was only the beginning of Harry's rescue. Harry needs a bit more rescuing like a home that he can forever call his own, and a bit of surgery. But Springerpaw Ranch tells of Harry's predicament best:
Springerpaw Ranch on Harry
How anyone could treat an animal like Harry has been treated is beyond comprehension!! Poor Harry was DUMPED by his 'owners' because of his 'allergies'. This little guy is less than 2 years old and was in the most deplorable condition!
Thanks to the alert staff at Maricopa who knows that we love the Special Needs dogs, he was spared his life and given a chance to live the life he deserves. Dogs like Harry are normally euthanized immediately; the shelters are so full and he was not in an adoptable condition. It was Harry's lucky day that we could make a spot for him here at the Ranch.
Most of Harry's fur was gone due to allergies we believe related to the mass infestation of ticks and fleas. His skin was beat red and below the mats on his ears were scabs and scars; his ears were also mildly infected, which is a big surprise. Through his grooming, bathing and tick removal, he remained happy and relieved to finally be loved and cared for!
Harry needs double cherry-eye surgery which will be roughly $650; he will also need bloodwork and possible medications depending on the outcome. Currently, he is on Benadryl, Doxicycline and Cephalexin to control his itching, treat what is possibly tick fever and his ear infections.
PLEASE consider DONATING to help Harry today! He is WORTH it as they all are!
If you would be interested in donating or possibly adopting Harry once he is all better and neutered, please contact us: debandbob@springerpawranch.com or 623.393.0709 or Springerpaw Ranch, P.O. Box 1024, Tonopah, AZ 85354.
Springerpaw Ranch is a private rescue owned and operated by Deb & Bob Bessette. We rely solely on adoption fees and donations to continue our work. We are not paid to do rescue nor are we funded by any governmental agency.
Our focus is the older, special needs and/or med/lge breeds often left behind by other rescues or dumped just because they are old or sick. Every dog we have for adoption was a 'death row' dog who now has a second chance at life!
THANK YOU!
