Your opportunity to help:

  • FOSTER - Become an MCACC foster parent and save lives! Fostering is a temporary placement of our homeless animals which saves their life. We are always in need of people who want to open their homes and their hearts to our animals. Foster families care for:

    • Puppies and Kitttens not yet old enough to be placed up for adoption.
    • Dogs or cats recovering from medical or behavior issues.

Fostering requires a commitment of time and energy from all household members to care for and socialize the animals, but the love you'll get in return is well worth the work! Interested in fostering? Fill out the Foster Application and contact the coordinator of the shelter location you wish to foster from:

    East Shelter Foster Coordinator
    Janet Aviles

    (602) 506-6279

    West Shelter Foster Coordinator
    Duanne Wilster

    (602) 372-1158

  • BECOME A DOG WALKER  - Volunteer to walk the dogs at either of Maricopa County Animal Care and Control's two locations.  This is a win-win situation for you and the dogs at MCACC who need socialization and some exercise.  You will be spending time with dogs in need while getting some exercise yourself.  Join others at MCACC as they take the dogs for a walk.  MCACC staff will help match you with the perfect animal.  Walks are every Sunday morning at the east side shelter and every Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon at the west side shelter.  Dress for an outdoor walk with suitable shoes, sunscreen, and water.  Minimum age is 15, or 12 with a parent.  For more information on the walks, click here.
  • WORK OFF-SITE EVENTS - Maricopa County Animal Care and Control needs volunteers who would be willing to work off-site events all around the valley. You would be greeting and interacting with the public as a MCACC volunteer, acting as an adoption counselor, and walking the dogs. It’s great fun and such a help!  This is a wonderful opportunity for the dogs at MCACC to experience a behaviorally enriching field trip and the chance of a lifetime for them to find a forever home. Contact: Samantha Spinelle, MCACC Community Outreach Supervisor, sspinelle@mail.maricopa.gov, 602.506.8133.
