There are lots of events going on this weekend in Arizona involving dog and animal rescue.  Here are just some of them:

Dog rescue weekend events for Saturday 14 November 2009:

  • Art and Craft Show for Red Rose Inspiration for Animals, IncThis is a  community organized event for animal rescue.  Located in West Sedona at 1405 W. State Highway 89A, Sedona, AZ 86336.  Currently known as Olde Sedona Bar and Grill (formerly Highway Café). The event will take place in the front & side parking lot of the restaurant.  All Exhibitor Parking will take place at 1425 W. State Hwy 89A.  Currently known as Red Rock Precision Motors (formerly Black Motors).  Set up time starting as early as 5:30 am on Saturday, November 14th, 2009.  Show Time:  9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
     
  • 1st Annual Arizona Week for the Animals starts today and goes through 22 November.  Animal World USA has designated November 14-22, 2009 as 1st Arizona Week for the Animals. The special week is designed to highlight the importance that animals play in our lives and bring communities together on behalf of the animals throughout the great state of Arizona. This statewide event will celebrate and build awareness on behalf of all animals, as well as recognize the schools, libraries, businesses, organizations and citizens who support them. The AZ Week for the Animals is bringing together educators, advocates, animal shelters, rescue organizations, sanctuaries, businesses, students, musicians, artists, community leaders and caring citizens in an exciting week of community-building activities. The fun-filled week will feature awesome pet adoption festivals and events, pet therapy in hospitals, school/art displays and activities, educational activities, bird watching/ tours, kid’s art days, library story-telling and R.E.A.D. dog activities, blessings of the animals at shelters and parks, book signings, special Animal World USA magazine to celebrate the week, free & low cost spay and neuter opportunities & vaccinations, meet and greet events, special animal seminars, pet therapy in school classrooms, salute to working/search & rescue K-9’s, sports drive to help animals, pet food donation information and locations, festivals and so much more! All these events will shine the spotlight on the amazing animals and compassionate people of Arizona who love them. It is a unique opportunity to change the history for the animals by collectively coming together. Precious lives which will be saved and communities will be transformed during this amazing week through a wide variety of animal-related events and activities.
  • Walk To Save The Animals.  This is a 2K or 5K pet walk to raise money for Arizona Animal Welfare League and SPCA.  There will be exhibitors, demonstrations, food, and activities.  It happens at Tempe Town Lake today from 10:00A-2:00P.
  • KPMG Adoptathon.  This is a huge adoptathon for animal welfare groups to gain exposure for their organizations and the services they provide.  The homeless they take in will in attendance with high hopes of finding a home.  It happens at Mesa Riverview Mall, 1061 N. Dobson Rd., Mesa, AZ from 10:00A-3:00P.
  • Quilt Round-Up.  This takes place at Mazatzal Casino Exhibition Hall, Hwy 87, Mile Marker 251, Payson, AZ.  Central Arizona Humane Society will be at the Quilt Round-Up with a beautiful quilt for auction to help the precious animals at their shelter.    
  • Garage Sale! United Animal Friends is having their 2009 garage sale today from 9:00A-4:00P at the Prescott Boys & Girls Club, 335 E. Aubrey St., Prescott, AZ.  Proceeds benefit United Animal Friends Emergency Medical Fund.
  • Power Paws Purple Pub Crawl.   Various bars and restaurants around Tempe Marketplace open their doors for happy hour specials from 4:00P-8:00P today. Wear purple and meet at Ruby Tuesdays, then visit San Felipe's Cantina, Genghis Grill and Darcy McGee's. Reservations required. E-mail meg@azpowerpaws.org. 
  • Art for Animals.  Quantum Art, Inc. is sponsoring a fundraising event to assist in the tireless work of AGN to protect and help our domesticated animal friends.   • Petique.  There's a new adoption center and boutique at Biltmore Fashion Square to benefit the Arizona Humane Society. Join them today from 10:00A-3:00P at 24th St. & Camelback at the east end of the shopping center.  They will be having special discounts, prizes, artist demonstrations, adoptions, contests, and complimentary dog snacks.

 

 Dog rescue weekend events for Sunday 15 November 2009:

  • Bless The Pets Day.  This happens today at Valley Presbyterian Church, 6947 E. McDonald Dr., Paradise Valley, AZ at 3:00P.
  • Quilt Round-Up.  Continues today at Mazatzal Casino Exhibition Hall, Hwy 87, Mile Marker 251, Payson, AZ.  Central Arizona Humane Society will be at the Quilt Round-Up from 10:00A-2:00P giving you the opportunity to learn to make a quilt to help animals
