Dining out with the family shouldn't cost a fortune.

All of these Burlington restaurants have options that allow a family with two small children to eat for under $25 including tip.  If a restaurant mentions a specific daily special, then the other days you will likely be paying more than that.  Obviously, you could go to these places and wind up spending a lot, but you can also do some meal sharing and wind up spending under $20 including tip—which is what we usually wind up doing.  Don’t be afraid to ask for extra plates when you’re splitting one meal.  And be kind: tip your waitstaff generously.  If you tip around 20%, they’re not going to mind splitting drinks for your children when they see you.  They know that even though you don’t always order a lot, you take care of them.

  • QTee’s on North Winooski
  • RiRa’s on Church Street (Wednesday burgers are half price.)
  • Moe’s Southwest Grill on Williston Road (Monday kids eat free-but we do better when Mommy just shares with the children.)
  • IHOP at the University Mall
  • China Express on Shelburne Road or North Street
  • Mad Hatter on Bank Street (lunch time)
  • City Market (Take your picnic to Church Street.)
  • Kwan’s on Hinesburg Road (Eat in or have it delivered for free on orders over $13.)
  • Vermont Pub and Brewery on College Street and St. Paul
  • Vermont Soup Company on Williston Road (2 for $20 Filet mignon every day special.)
  • Dino’s Pizzeria at the Church Street Mall-Lower Level
  • Madera’s on Main Street (formerly called Roque’s)
  • Burlington Bay Market and Café on Battery Street and College Street
  • Big Fatty’s on Main Street (Order one of their $15 Big Fatty Pork sandwiches- our family of 4 got two meals out of it. )
  • Bove’s on Pearl Street
  • New World Tortilla on Pine Street (formerly located on North Winooski Avenue.)

For more info: Each of these restaurants will be featured in an article in the near future, so you will have the ins and outs of Family Dining in Burlington right here at your disposal.  If you know of a restaurant that has great deals on a specific night, or that has good food at low prices, please email me, and I will be sure to add them to the list.
