The week 11 BCS standings gave Boise State a boost up to #6. The latest BCS standings reflected a bunch of action in college football, with Alabama jumping to #2 and Iowa fading to #10. With Iowa dropping, that gave Boise State the chance to make a jump of their own in the week 11 BCS standings, and find themselves now ranked #6. In the week 10 BCS Standings Boise State was ranked #7, and they remain the lowest ranked undefeated team in college football. Still being outside of the BCS Top 5 has to be frustrating for Boise State players, who have done everything possible to get a good ranking out of the BCS this season.
Over the weekend, Boise State defeated Louisiana Tech (in Louisiana) by a score of 45-35 and pushed their overall record to 9-0. Boise State also sits at 4-0 in the WAC this season, with four games remaining on the schedule. Next week's game against Idaho could be a tough one, but with how well the offense of Boise State has been playing recently, they should be just fine. Boise State will be looking to push their record to 10-0 on November 14th, and have the chance to finish the 2009 season with a 13-0 regular season record.
The week 11 BCS standings are eye opening for Boise State, and they were definitely hurt a lot when Oregon was upset by Stanford. Boise State needed Oregon to keep winning in order for the Boise State win over Oregon in Week one to become even more valuable to the BCS computers. Now there is a risk that Boise State might not make it into one of the BCS bowl games if they can't find a way to get higher than #6 in the standings. One thing going for them is that Alabama and Florida have to play each other in the 2009 SEC Championship Game, so that will remove one of the undefeated teams ahead of them in the BCS standings.
