Recently an article appeared with the chief of police in Los Angeles stated that the problem with the paparazzi was with the celebrities.  According to the Chief much of the problem is solved when these celebrities behave themselves.

The paparazzi issue is not from the behavior of the celebrities but from the general public who demand more and more material. If the general population paid no attention to the antics – good or bad – of the celebrities then there would be no gossip “news” or need for photographs.

The world of journalism works in much the same manner as any other commodity on the market; it works by supply and demand. As long as, you demand it the new media will continue to portray it no matter what the cost.

I remember getting into a heated discussion with my room mate back in the eighties about Michael Jackson. She was complaining about him always being in the news.I tried to explain to her that he was always in the news because people wanted to read it.  By the same token earlier this year Brittney Spears was constantly in the news. Many of the comments found at the end of the articles were complaining about Ms. Spears constant appearance in the news saying that the article was not news. But yet; they would not understand by reading these articles and making comments upon them that these very same people were to blame for the problem by reading and commenting.  These are ways the news gurus decide what should and should not be printed; and by reading and later commenting on an article the news gurus see that as an indication that they want to see more of the same.

The quickest an easiest way to curtail permanently the issue of paparazzi is by ignoring any and all information, photos, etc. released on these so called celebrities; with no demand then there will be no supply.

These celebrities may be somewhat to blame for displaying the kinds of antics that attract attention but if no one cared about what they did then there would be no need for the editors and publishers to buy the footageIf there is no one interested in buying what ever the paparazzi has to offer then the editors would not buy them. The whole affair has become a vicious cycle that can only end when people act inn a proper manner.
