In 1973 The Recording Academy's National Trustees created the Grammy Hall of Fame for songs. Once a song has been out for 25 years and if the song has been deemed to be of quantitative or historical significance that song becomes a part of the Grammy Hall of Fame.
The year 28 more songs were added to the list including "The Star Spangled Banner" performed by Jimi Hendrix, We are the Champions/We Will Rock You, "For Once in My Life", and "Sweet Home Alabama". The soundtrack from "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" and the album "Synchronicity" were also included on the list. The new additions bring the total number of Hall of Fame entries to 826.
Some of the songs will become a part of the new Grammy Hall of Fame Museum that is set to open in Las Angeles on December 6.
