Hollywood and HIghland is a beautiful magical place - at night. I'll even give you sunset, but get there in the middle of the day and it loses something.
There are always places that are meant to be viewed at certain times of the day and Hollywood and Highland is one of those places. In the cover of night this place comes alive with lights, characters and more. At night you can't tell that Spiderman's outfit might not be sewn just right, or that Captain Jack Sparrow's make-up is a starting to run. Hollywood and Highland is meant to embody the spirit of glamor and excess that is Hollywood. This is something that can only be done at night. Daylight just doesn't do this Los Angeles wonder proper justice.
So I suggest you drag out your tripod or monopod (forget that unflattering flash) and spend some time in the darkness and beauty of the Hollywood and HIghland center. A good timed exposure will show the ghosts of shoppers amidst the lights of elephants and the dreams of Hollywood's most ambitious. Or a quick shot of the lights around the stories will reveal the glitz and glamor of the city.
While you're photographing Hollywood and Highland's dark streets and stores, don't forget to visit the famous landmarks, including Graumen's Chinese Theater. Here you can break out your inner tourist and photograph some of the greatest names in show business. You can follow the paths of stars and find your heroes and visit Ripley's famous museum of oddities. You might even wander down to Grauman's Egyptian Theater - the smaller, lessor known theater that shows mostly indy films. Hollywood and Highland is a treasure trove of great images, you just have to find the right time of day to find them.
