The Broncos like a lot of things about defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban. They like his pass-rush ability, and he's stout against the run. But make no mistake, Ekuban is a Bronco for his leadership above all else.
Ekuban showed that leadership on Wednesday, when he made no bones about his feelings after the defense gave up 38 points and 456 yards to the Chargers. "We have a lot to work on -- I'll be honest with you, man. We know we're better than what we've shown. We pride ourselves in doing a better job out there, and we have to do a better job of stepping up, and helping this team. "
Ekuban said the team has to stop the big plays, especially against Reggie Bush. He hopes the San Diego game and Darren Sproles got them ready for what they'll see from the Saints offense.
The Saints may be worried about their defense as well. They gave up 455 yards and 29 points to a Washington team whose offense struggled the week before. The Broncos and Saints play at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday at INVESCO Field.
