Rock City’s annual German festival “Rocktoberfest” in Lookout Mountain, Georgia is coming soon, every Saturday and Sunday in October from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 25th.

Experience the German culture with authentic music, food, activities and fun! Hear last year’s favorite bands including Laurentz und die Katven, the Wurstbrats and Alpine Mountain Band, along with new bands this year, Atlanta Polka Band and Prost.

It’s my favorite time of year at Rock City,” Mike LaRoche said, band leader of the Wurstbrats (a subgroup of Chattanooga’s Big Band Sweet Georgia Sound). “There’s always a lot of people coming out and having a good time.”

See Rock City Square come alive with the atmosphere of a German Buddenstrasse (Avenue of Booths.) In addition to grilled bratwursts, homemade sauerkraut, roasted potatoes and specialty beer on tap by Big River Grille, guests can enjoy Beer 101 classes taught by David Sharpe, head brewer with Big River. German dance lessons, face and pumpkin painting are also available.

We are so excited about our 4th annual German celebration, Rocktoberfest,” said Kim Jackson, director of special events for Rock City. “Between live German music, polka lessons, kid’s activities including train rides on the Bavarian Express and the breathtaking autumn views from Lover’s Leap, there is truly something for everyone at Rock City during Saturdays and Sundays in October! So come on up the mountain and help us celebrate. It's Oompah Time!”

Rock City Gardens is partnering with Scenic City Survivors during the festival, in promotion of the new pink “Survivor Birdhouse,” honoring breast cancer awareness month in October (www.seerockcity.com/survivor). Also available is the 2010 Calendar: “A Celebration of Life” by the Scenic City Survivors. For more info on this inspirational group, visit www.ScenicCitySurvivors.org.

Rock City Gardens is committed to continuing its efforts of partnering with community organizations and maintaining a culture of excellence. Rock City is one of the south’s most popular natural attractions. Known for its unique geological and botanical wonders, the enchanted, 4,100-foot walking trail is a true marvel of nature featuring massive ancient rock formations, a 140-foot waterfall that cascades down Lookout Mountain and the Swing-Along Bridge that spans nearly 200 feet.
