Breakfast with Santa: Saturdays and Sundays from December 5-13, Eckert’s Country Store in Belleville Ill. will have a special breakfast where children can tell Santa their Christmas wishes and receive a special gift as well as a photo with Santa. Cost is $13 per child, $10 per adult. Reservations—618-233-0513 or www.eckerts.com .

Santa’s Train Land: Through December 21, Fridays, 5–9 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. -5 p.m., Sundays noon to 5 p.m. Interactive model train is displayed with animated features on Main Street in St. Charles, Mo. On Friday evening Carolers add to the Christmas spirit.

A Christmas Story, St. Louis Repertory Theatre: December 2-27. Holidays celebrated with the joyful perspective of children. For times and prices, call 314-968-4925.

Holiday Rooms in Bloom & Tree Lighting Ceremony: Samuel Cupples House, 3673 West Pine Blvd., St. Louis University campus. This lovely 19th century mansion, decorated for the holiday season, will open on December 3 with a tree lighting event at 5 p.m. Admission is free, but visitors are encouraged to bring gently used clothing as a donation to St. Francis Xavier Parish Help Center.

Christmas in Kimmswick: In addition to shops brimming with holiday merchandise and decorated for the season, visitors can enjoy historic building tours by candlelight. The Kimmswick Historical Society will lead tours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on December 4 and 5; and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 6.

Soulard Holiday Parlour Tour: Visit some of the city’s most beautiful, historic homes on Saturday, December 5. Tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. begin at Gene Slay’s Boys Club, where complimentary samples from Soulard restaurants and pubs are available before/after your tour. Transportation provided by shuttle bus. $22 per person in advance; $25 on event day.
