Danny Lynn Parker was sentenced to 5 years for possessing child pornography. In what seems to be a growing trend with pedophiles and those who possess child pornography, Danny Parker was charged for pasting photos of the faces of children on women’s bodies. The case is similar to that of a former Polk County principal, John Stelmack, who faces sentencing tomorrow, July 10, 2009.
Both John Stelmack and Danny Parker were convicted of creating cut and paste porn or morphed images. Though the United States Supreme Court had ruled that cut and paste porn was an expression of free speech, many states have taken a strong stand against the images and are prosecuting the cases as child pornography offenses. Danny Lynn Parker states that he got the idea to create the images from news reports of the John Stelmack case.
The sentencing comes after Parker changed his plea to “No Contest” and accepted a deal that had been offered to him by the State. The deal includes five years in prison and ten years of sex offender probation. Parker also has retained the right to appeal the case in the future. Danny Parker was arrested in April of 2008 after Polk County detectives received a report that a Dade City resident had found a bag of trash that contained the cut and paste morphed child pornography images. The resident brought the trash to the Dade City Police; they found Danny Parker’s name and address in the rubbish. Dade City police contacted the Polk County sheriff’s office and the investigation began.
Parker, who lived at home with his parents, consented to let the police search his room. There, detectives found a photo album, created by Parker that contained the images of girl’s faces on women’s bodies. Parker had taken the photos of the girls himself. He had access to children as he worked as a Sunday School teacher at the Lakeland Acres Church. He also volunteered his time at the Lake Wales Care Center where he worked as a photographer.
During police interrogation, Danny Parker confessed to purchasing adult pornography magazines in Hillsborough and Pasco counties then morphing the images of adult, naked women with the faces of the children whose photos he had taken. This case of cut and paste child pornography indicates that the State of Florida is treating such incidents as crimes, punishable by law.
