Shirley Skinner, a 74 year old Grandmother has been arrested for the murder of Steven Watkins, the estranged husband of her granddaughter, Jennifer Watkins. Reports state that Shirley Skinner, the grandmother that many refer to as being nice, shot Watkins in the back of the head. The murder occurred on November 2008, in Ashland, Illinois. Authorities state that Steven Watkins had been murdered as he went to pick up his daughter for a visit.
Shirley Skinner was arrested in the presence of her granddaughter. Jennifer Watkins, her great granddaughter, Sidney Watkins, and her grandson, Joshua Webster. The family was leaving a Clearwater, Florida restaurant at the time of the arrest.
Skinner appeared in court today where she waived extradition. She will return to Illinois within 120 days where she will face the charges against her. She has been charged with first degree murder.
