College football bettors already have part 1 of the opening week
college football tipsheet (eat your heart out Phil Steele) and the against the spread NCAA football trends
part 1 and
part 2 report for the opening week.
Now here is part 2 of the football betting tipsheet to beat the college football
odds.
Georgia vs. OklahomaState
UGA is 28-1 straight up in nonconference action under head coach Mark Richt. They are also a sensational 30-4 straight up on the road.
OSU starting TE Jamal Mosley has quit the team following several off the field brushes with the law. He will be replaced by Wilson Youman, who started four games last year and had one reception.
Virginia Tech vs. Alabama
This game is on a neutral field. Alabama is looking for déjà vu from last year. They opened up against a highly touted ACC team in Clemson and dominated them in every facet. Star running back Darren Evans is out for the year for VA Tech.
It will be an emotional game for the Tide as they will be without DE Brandon Deaderick who was shot in a robbery attempt. He started all 14 games as a junior making 36 tackles and four sacks, which was second on the team.
The flu bug has been going through the Tide as several key players have missed practice time. Bama may play as many as four tailbacks against the Hokies.
LSU vs. Washington
Many experts expect Washington QB Jake Locker to thrive in new coach Steve Sarkisian’s system. He is facing a rebuilt LSU defense under John Chavis.
Western Michigan vs. Michigan
Michigan tries to fight distractions of accusations that they violated NCAA rules about how long the team can practice and speculation that it’s a sign that head coach Rich Rodriquez has lost the locker room.
WMU has beaten an automatic bowl qualifier each of the last three years, with a Big 10 team being a victim each of the last two.

San JoseState vs. USC
The Trojans start a true freshman QB against a San Jose team that ranked 10th nationally against the pass and 11th in sacks last year. The Spartans though lost two CBs and a DL to the NFL but has seven returning starters on defense. Their coach Dick Tomey is famous for building the famed Arizona Desert Swarm defenses of the 1990s. San Jose State will blitz the freshman often.
Minnesota vs. Syracuse
Minnesota welcomes back RB Duane Bennett who missed most of last year with a torn ACL. He was well on his way to being the Gophers featured running back last year before going down in the second game. His return should improve a running game that was dead last in the Big 10 and 104th nationally. The Gophers are returning to their running roots after two years of a spread offense.
Syracuse starting QB Greg Paulus gets the start after starring at Duke in basketball. He has not taken a snap since high school.
Illinois vs. Missouri
This game is being played in St. Louis. The last two meetings in the Edward Jones Dome produced 168 combined points. Illinois QB Juice Williams returns after setting a stadium record for total offense in last year’s meeting.
Sept. 6
Colorado vs. ColoradoState
CSU has lost a good part of their offense from last year, but this has been one of those true rivalry games as six of the last seven meetings have been decided by a touchdown or less.
