The CONCACAF Gold Cup kicks off Friday, July 3rd, and head coach Bob Bradley has revealed his roster of players. If the U.S. reaches the quarterfinals, and they certainly are expected to, they will make their long awaited return to Philadelphia.
GOALKEEPERS (3): Jon Busch (Chicago Fire), Troy Perkins (IK Start), Luis Robles (FC Kaiserslautern)
DEFENDERS (7): Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City Wizards), Clarence Goodson (IK Start), Jay Heaps (New England Revolution), Chad Marshall (Columbus Crew), Michael Parkhurst (FC Nordsjaellands), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock)
MIDFIELDERS (8): Davy Arnaud (Kansas City Wizards), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Colin Clark (Colorado Rapids), Sam Cronin (Toronto FC), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders), Stuart Holden (Houston Dynamo), Logan Pause (Chicago Fire), Robbie Rogers (Columbus Crew)
FORWARDS (5): Freddy Adu (AS Monaco), Brian Ching (Houston Dynamo), Kenny Cooper (FC Dallas), Charlie Davies (Hammarby IF), Santino Quaranta (D.C. United)
Having just completed the Confederations Cup, the U.S. will be bringing a "B team" to the Gold Cup. But that's not to say there isn't any talent on this roster. Steve Cherunudolo, the team's best option at right back, will be making his return from injury (Jonathan Spector could have something to say about that). And a number of MLS players will get a chance to show if they're ready for national team duty. U.S. fans are excited to see players like Chad Marshall, Davy Arnaud, Kyle Beckerman, Stuart Holden, and Kenny Cooper, who have been excellent MLS players. Freddy Adu, who was benched during the Confederations Cup, will get his chance to start and lead the U.S. attack.
