MVP - Landon Donovan, LA Galaxy (12 goals, 6 assists)
Donovan was a dangerous attacking threat on a nightly basis for LA. Without him, Galaxy might not be in the playoffs.

Just missing out - Jeff Cunningham, FC Dallas (17 goals, 8 assists)
Cunningham led FC Dallas in their resurgence during the second half of the season. He was on a torrid scoring pace, and probably would be the MVP of the league if FC Dallas would have gotten off to a better start.

Coach of the Year - Bruce Arena, LA Galaxy
In his first full season with the club, Arena led the Galaxy to the #1 seed in the West. LA had missed the playoffs the previous three years, and it’s clear that Arena was a huge part of their turnaround.

Just missing out - Sigi Schmid, Seattle Sounders and Robert Warzycha, Colombus Crew

Goalkeeper of the Year- Zach Thornton, Chivas USA (0.87 GAA, 12 shutouts)
Thornton could also be the comeback player of the year. After two years in relative obscurity, Thornton posted career numbers.

Just missing out - Kasey Keller, Seattle Sounders

Defender of the Year - Chad Marshall, Colombus Crew (4 goals)
Marshall continues to be the most reliable, consistent defender in the league.

Rookie of the Year - Stefan Frei, Toronto F.C. (1.49 GAA, 5 shutouts)
A lot of credit has to be given to Frei for posting respectable numbers for a terribly inconsistent Toronto team. He has a bright future.

Next MLS Star - Robbie Findley, Real Salt Lake (12 goals, 4 assists)
Findley is one of the great young talents in the league. Look for him to have an even bigger year next year, and get a few call-ups from the U.S. national team.

MLS Playoffs:

Columbus Crew vs. Real Salt Lake
Columbus wins easily, as Real Salt Lake prove to be too inconsistent.

Chicago Fire vs. New England Revolution
Chicago Fire wins. The Fire have too much firepower with McBride, Blanco, and Rolfe.

LA Galaxy vs. Chivas USA
Galaxy wins in a close, hard-fought match up. The first Super Classico playoff battle should be one for the ages.

Houston Dynamo vs. Seattle Sounders
Houston is too strong, and wins big at home in the second leg.

Conference Finals

Columbus Crew vs. Chicago Fire
Columbus beats Chicago for the second year in a row in the Conference finals.

LA Galaxy vs. Houston Dynamo
Beckham and Donovan lead the Galaxy past the Dynamo.

MLS Cup 2009

LA Galaxy vs. Columbus Crew
Bruce Arena wins his third MLS Cup, as the Galaxy complete a stellar season. David Beckham raising the MLS Cup gives Major League Soccer national attention.
