We live in an era filled with doping scandals in the sports world. Baseball has suffered greatly because of the scandals surrounding their biggest stars. Is hockey next? Maybe.
Polk County, FL Sheriff's officials arrested Richard Thomas and his wife Sandra on Tuesday. They are suspected of being big-time steroid dealers. What does this arrest have to do with hockey, you may ask. Well, Tampa Bay Online is reporting that
investigators aren't sure whether Richard Thomas, 35, is telling the truth when he says he is the biggest steroid provider in Central Florida and that he sold mostly to professional athletes, including those on the Washington Capitals hockey team and Washington Nationals baseball team. [Emphasis added]
If Mr. Thomas has in fact confessed and proclaimed himself the "biggest steroid provider in Central Florida," you should expect him to name players soon. People, who like publicity, usually throw names around. Stay tuned for more.
In the meantime, let me know what you think about this.
