Neil Patrick Harris and CBS are presently cutting a deal for Harris to host the Emmy Awards to be broadcast on September 20, according to a report in Variety. The deal is not yet inked.
Harris who stars in the CBS show, How I Met Your Mother, would get a boost to his show if the Emmy hosting gig comes through. How I Met Your Mother is scheduled to change time slots to 8 p.m. on Monday, the night after the Emmy Awards is aired.
Last year's Emmy Awards hosts were Ryan Seacrest joined by other reality stars, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Jeff Probst and Tom Bergeron. The resulting ratings were low. The pressure is on this year to improve those ratings, and CBS hopes Harris will do the trick.
