Today my daughter and I made homemade pizza. With a few items from Trader Joe's, fresh basil from the garden and tomatoes from our counter, we were able to quickly make and enjoy our pizza.
Ingredients we used:
We did not follow the instructions on the bag of dough. Instead, while preheating the oven, I oiled a pan and pressed the fresh-out-of-the refrigerator dough to the edges of the pan. Then I put the dough in the oven for about 4 minutes while I sliced the tomatoes. After taking the partially cooked dough out of the oven, we spread some pizza sauce over it. Then we placed the tomatoes and basil on top, topping it off with a nice covering of shredded cheese. We then placed the uncooked pizza in the oven for about 6 minutes, until the cheese was nicely melted. Sea salt was sprinkled on top just before serving the fresh, warm pizza.
Ingredients we normally would have used, but that we did not have on hand today: freshly minced garlic & Trader Joe's pepperoni. The pizza was great, regardless!
Trader Joe's pizza dough is easily frozen and thawed out, and at 99 cents per bag, it is a great value. Making food at home allows children to see where food comes from. It also allows everyone to have fun and get creative. Enjoy!
