Merck has just announced that they will soon begin production of the separate components of the MMR vaccine (Measles, Mumps and Rubella). The MMR combination vaccine is the most controversial of all vaccines because it has been linked to autism. Despite the CDC's assurances that vaccines do not cause autism, parents and caregivers continue to be skeptical.
Now that the vaccines will be available as separate shots, many parents will feel more comfortable vaccinating for these diseases. When the separate shots become available in 2011, I'll be lining my daughter up to be immunized.
