There are wrestle-offs, and then there are wrestle-offs.

The University of Iowa Hawkeyes, 2009 NCAA Division I team champions, have made their wrestle-off event a three-day event, starting with quarterfinals on Thursday... semifinals on Friday... and finals on Saturday.  But that's the way you do it when you have incredible depth on your wrestling roster.

Here are the results from Thursday's quarterfinals:
149 - Stew Gillmor dec. Ethan Sebert, 2-1
157 - Derek St. John dec. Brooks Kopsa, 10-5

Friday's semifinal results:
125 - J.J. Krutsinger maj. dec. Nick Trizzino, 16-5
125 - Matt McDonough dec. Tyler Clark, 5-1
133 - Nate Moore dec. Mark Ballweg, 13-7
149 - Phillip Sheridan pinned Jeret Chiri, 4:59
149 - Brent Metcalf pinned Stew Gillmor, 2:17
157 - Aaron Janssen dec. Jake Kerr, 6-2
157 - Derek St. John dec. Matt Ballweg, 7-4
165 - Joe DuCharme dec. Ruffin Tchakounte, 4-3
184 - Phillip Keddy maj. dec. Tomas Lira, 16-5
184 - Grant Gambrall dec. Vinnie Wagner, 6-4

Saturday's final match-ups
125 - J.J. Krutsinger vs. Matt McDonough
133 - Daniel Dennis vs. Nate Moore
141 - Dan LeClere vs. Montell Marion
149 - Brent Metcalf vs. Phillip Sheridan
157 - Derek St. John vs. Aaron Janssen
165 - Ryan Morningstar vs. Joe DuCharme
174 - Jay Borschel vs. Ethen Lofthouse
184 - Phillip Keddy vs. Grant Gambrall
197 - Chad Beatty vs. Luke Lofthouse
Hwt - Jordan Johnson vs. Blake Rasing

Saturday's competition will feature wrestle-off finals at all 10 weights and is set to start at 8:30 am Central time. Takedown Radio will air their Saturday morning radio show at the Dan Gable Wrestling Complex from 9-11 a.m. Fans can listen to the show on 1460 KXNO or www.takedownradio.com.
