In yet another case of financial crisis violence, Lawrence T. Covington, 34. was charged in the March 24 deaths of LaPrince Hall, 41 and Maurice Fountain, 24. Covington was also charged with attempted murder for the attack on Hall's daughter, Genea Simms, 22. The men were slain and the daughter critically injured in their home on Snow Court near Upper Marlboro, MD.
The alleged motive behind the murder is that Covington, a former employee of Hall's towing business, had a financial dispute with him. It appears that Fountain and his fiance or wife Simms, were just collateral damage.
Maryland, DC Metro, lend me your ears...IT"S NOT THAT SERIOUS!!! I know times are hard. Some of us are upside down on our mortgages or renting homes where our landlords are taking the rent we pay and stuffing it under our bed, while we try to ignore the foreclosure notices taped to our doors. But for Pete's sake, room and board and the state's expense for the rest of your life is not the answer!!!
Again, I digress...back to the straight news.
Covington was arraigned in court on April 16, in the brief hearing his father, Lawrence, Sr. stated that he did not believe his son was responsible for the crimes. Well let's hope so.
