Well at least it was before I wrote this review. My dear husband and I just celebrated our third anniversary at the end of September. We had grand plans that were swiftly dashed by the U2 concert at FedEx field and the hours of deadlock it created on the beltway.
By the time my honey made it home to me, he was irritated, to say the least, and in no mood to go back out to the District where most Prince George's County residents would think you have to go to find a nice sit-down restaraunt option.
So we set out to find something good but close and a friend recommended Peachez Cafe and Lounge right around the corner from us.
Out of sheer hunger and the desire to take advantage of the free babysitting, we set out with very low expectations.
We were pleasantly surprised by what we found. Although the lounge's location in a strip mall is a slight disadvantage, the interior of the restauraunt is very welcoming. Low lighting and satellite music set the scene as HD flat screens allowed the men to pretend they were gazing into their dates' eyes as they checked the scores on ESPN.
We sat at the bar because we couldn't waste precious time in waiting for our waitress to bring a drink from the bar to our table. The bartender was very pleasant. She made great recommendations for our entrees, and she topped off the shots my husband insisted we take.
We had two, count 'em, two warm jumbo lump crabcake appetizers. The serving was massive and one alone is enough for an entree. It is garnished with Old Bay Seasoning, and served with drawn butter. Check me out sounding like a real food critic!
Dear Hubby ordered the jerk salmon salad that comes with Peachez signature dressing. I ordered the Peachez Herb Chicken, which I admit, tasted a little funny. It was swiftly and courteously taken off of the tab, and I substituted another jumbo lump crab appetizer (Don't judge me).
The bar boasts a few signature drinks that to me tasted like the same fruity drinks you can get from any family restaurant. But they served their purpose for me. Save the calories and simply order a top shelf liquor and a mixer.
But you definitely should do yourself a favor and give Peachez a try. They boast an awesome Sunday brunch. We have not been back for that because the prices are not family-of-four-friendly, but the reviews have been pretty fair.
I would love to hear about everyone's experiences there. I will be sure to update the review with feedback about the brunch if we can ditch the kids one Sunday.
