The fireworks viewing forecast is quite good for central and eastern NC Saturday 7 / 4.

The chance that lightning will trump fireworks this 4th of July is quite low!  Thanks to a broad northwesterly wind flow over the Tar Heel State, the atmosphere in central and eastern North Carolina will likely be drier than average Saturday 7 / 4, so the chance of a thunderstorm will hover near or under 20% in the evening.  Here are some other Saturday evening fireworks viewing forecast details:

  • Sunset times will range from 8:20pm on the Outer Banks to around 8:30 for most spots on the NC Coastal Plain to 8:40 in western portions of the Research Triangle.
  • After afternoon highs in the 88 - 94 range, temperatures will cool to the 80 - 86 range around 9pm and the 77 - 83 range around 10pm.
  • As mentioned the chance of a thunderstorm will be near / less than 20% Saturday evening.  Additionally, low clouds / fog are not likely.  Scattered clouds will exist higher in the atmosphere, so visibility should be quite good!
