Lafayette, LA, in the heart of "Cajun Country", set a record high Wednesday 6 / 22.

A strong, summery ridge of high pressure suppressed the development of cooling Gulf Coast thunderstorms and allowed Lafayette, LA to set a daily record high of 102 Wednesday 6 / 22.  The previous record for the date, 99, was set in 1930.  The average late June high in Lafayette is 90.
