A period of Ida-related (directly or indifectly) heavy rain and even coastal gales / flooding will be possible for central / eastern North Carolina late Tuesday 11 / 10 into Thursday 11 / 12.
Computer models, like the WRF-NMM wind streamline model, place the distinctive counter-clockwise wind swirl - i.e. the center of Ida - near Mobile, AL midday Tuesday 11 / 10. Most models also suggest the center of Ida, or the remnants thereof, may stay will to the south of eastern North Carolina in the ensuing 24 to 36 hours.
Even still, most computer models suggest a swath of moderate to heavy rain - possibly as heavy as 1 to 4" - will build northeastward into central / eastern North Carolina late Tuesday 11 / 10 into Thursday 11 / 12. What's more: if Ida's strong, extra-tropical remnant low pressure system makes a closer pass to central / eastern North Carolina, variable and gusty winds of 30 - 40mph+ and coastal flooding will become possible in the aforementioned time span.
