National Weather Highlight for 11 / 1 / 09: Maine cleans up after Halloween windstorm
Damaging wind gusts - some associated with thunderstorms and some not - swept across northern and eastern New England Saturday 10 / 31. Scattered reports of downed trees came from Massachusetts and New Hampshire, but for the purposes of this National Weather Highlight, I will focus on Maine's wind woes as the storm reports were more concentrated here:

Trees and power lines fell along Route 11 west of Houlton, Aroostook County.

Trees came down in Monticello, Aroostook County.

On Reservoir Street in Caribou, Aroostook County, a tree blew down.

Signs crashed down in Madawaska, Aroostook County.

A downburst was reported to have felled a power line in Allagash, Aroostook County.

A tree and power lines blew down in Fort Kent, Aroostook County.

One tree fell in Saint John, Aroostook County.

A limb crashed onto a power line in Pembroke, Washington County.

Damage to a power line ignited a fire in Ellsworth, Hancock County.

A tree blew onto power lines in Atkinson, Piscataquis County.
