Culver City has taken over as the dining hub of Los Angeles, but you don’t have to be a millionare to enjoy dining in our fair city. You can eat on the cheap in Culver City, if you know where to go. Here is a list of some places to consider, along with some shopping bargains to enjoy with your well-saved cash.

Tokyo 7-Buried next to the free parking structure on Cardiff, is this tiny coffee shop, with tiny prices. The locals go here, along with some industry standards. It’s not pretty. It’s not designer food, but you can easily have a meal here for under $10.

Tender Greens-The Whole Foods crowd clamors to this place, especially at lunch, where there’s a line outside the restaurant, ready to chow down on the healthy fare inside.

Chipotle-Healthy Mexican food is offered at Chipotle, where you can make your meal your way. Think of it as a Subway with salsa.

Daphne’s-I saw the sign offering a dinner at Daphne’s for $6. I’m not sure what it entails, but dinner at these prices is worth investigating. I love Greek food, so I’m planning to go and break some plates at this place.

Santa Maria BBQ-near Culver City’s City Hall is a great spot for ribs, chicken, and other big plate meals. Portions are huge for you carnivores in need of sustenance.

Not everyone wants to go to the malls to go shopping. If you’re really hunting for a bargain, here’s where you should go while you’re out.

House of Return Thrift Store
Great spot for browsing some of the finery discards. I’ve seen some lovely gowns, shoes and furniture in this quirky place. Too bad they don’t have a dressing room. Washington Blvd. & Motor-(310) 204-4058

Timeless Treasures Thrift Store
This place is braced right near Fraiche on Culver, and has a nice selection of clothing, furniture, and other knick knacks. Still a bargain, although prices have crept up a bit over the past few years.
9441 Culver Blvd.
Culver City, CA 90232
310-559-8338

Culver City Senior Center Gift Boutique
A few times a year, the Senior Center hosts a gift boutique. There, you'll find very affordable photography, jewelry, ceramics, paintings and clothing. The next one is slated for Friday, Nov. 6th from 10 a.m-2 p.m. Go there and get a jump on that holiday shopping. The last one they hosted was packed, so get there early to find the best stuff.

4095 Overland Ave.(northwest corner of Overland and Culver-the new building)
Culver City, CA 90232-3731
