Almost everyone knows his jingle, and now “the Oscar Mayer" is dead. Long live the King of Wieners. Let's all sing it together a memorial verse in honor of Oscar Mayer.
I wish I were an Oscar Mayer wiener
That is what I truly want to be
'Cause if I were an Oscar Mayer wiener
Everyone would be in love with me.
Oscar G. Mayer, retired chairman of the Wisconsin-based Oscar Mayer Foods that died at the age of 95. Maybe those wieners are more healthful than we imagine. Mayer's wife, Geraldine said he died at a Hospice Care Center. Hopefully the harp player knew “his song.”
He was the third Oscar Mayer in the family that founded the company. His grandfather, Oscar F. Mayer, died in 1955 and his father, Oscar G. Mayer Sr., died in 1965. Now, who gets to drive the Wienermobile? When I was young, that was the career I dreamed about.
May Oscar Mayer continue in his journey knowing that his song put a smile on many faces over the years. And may we all realize our full potential in this lifetime and during our transition.
