Bucky Fuller, Buckminster Fuller, Bucky, Spaceship Earth, survival of the fittest, integrity
Buckminster Fuller, a genius at work.

Buckminster Fuller was a man very far ahead of his time.  Now, we can utilize his wisdom to create the change we speak of so often.  The following is his final message to his fellow crewmembers on board the planet he labeled Spaceship Earth.

"Human integrity is the uncompromising courage of self determining whether or not to take initiatives, support or cooperate with others in accord with 'all the truth and nothing but the truth' as it is conceived by the Divine Mind always available in each individual.

Whether humanity is to continue and comprehensively prosper on Spaceship Earth depends entirely on the integrity of the human individuals and not on the political and economic systems.   The cosmic question has been asked – 'Are humans a worthwhile to Universe invention?'"

- Dr. R. Buckminster Fuller (February 14, 1983 – just months before he passed on)

This complicated quote represents the essence of possibility.  Will we be creative and conscious enough to pass what Bucky labeled "humanity's final examination?"  Success exists as a possibility if we begin to think and act with the personal integrity he championed most of his 88 years.

Is each of us willing to cooperate with all people?   Fuller was talking about all others not just the ones we label as friends or neighbors but also all the ones we label as enemies.

Are we willing to admit that there is no God out there and that we each have constant access to the Divine Mind?  Bucky clearly felt that each of us is a form of Divine God that can be, do and have much more than we can imagine.

And are we willing to support actions which clearly benefit the whole of humankind even if they cause us, our families, friends or allies to temporarily have less?  Would you give up your morning latte in order to feed a fellow crewmember aboard the tiny planet Fuller labeled Spaceship Earth, even if she was on the other side of our planet and unknown to you?

These are all question that Fuller's manifesto to humankind asks of each crewmember on board Spaceship Earth.  It is important because he had such a broad perspective, and people were constantly asking him if he thought humankind was going to make it.  His answer was always that he did not know, and that he thought it was "touch and go."  Only in his last months of life did he share this insight.

Early in his life, Bucky recognized that we are all in this together.  Nobody escapes this planet alive (at least not physically), and the behavior of our species has put our physical survival and success at risk.  Accordingly, he sought strategies to create success for all beings.  The above  quote reflects what he discovered.

May we all recognze our individual and collective significance here on Spaceship Earth at this critical moment in our evolution.  And may we each "walk our talk" as Bucky did for decades.
