Mark Sanford continues to do what so many public "Christians" do when they get caught. He justified his actions with bible quotes. Doesn't the Christian bible say something about being honest? How about adultery? Isn't the bible pretty specific about that? What about lying?
Sanford told people including his wife Jenny that he was hiking the Appalachian Trail solo. That lie did provide us a new euphonium for hot sex, and all the late night talk show hosts are using it. From now on lots of people will be "hiking the Appalachian Trail."
Meanwhile, Sanford quotes from the bible and hides behind his Christian religion to justify taxpayer paid Argentina trips to spend time with his mistress. Isn't there something in the Christian bible about having a wife and a mistress?
It's an interesting book that so many people use to justify or cover their unpopular behaviors. Do people realize that it was written by a bunch of men who wanted rules to keep people submissive. According to those men's book, their god will punish anyone who does not follow his / their rules.
Many religions have similar books, and they all proclaim theirs to be the one and only way. I think Mark Sanford and his fellow philandering politicians need to create their own book. They can call it the "pible" (politicians bible). Maybe they already have such a set of rules to keep people submissive. It's called government laws, and the people in power change them as they see fit.
May we all learn from our "mistakes" and be guided by our heartfelt experiences rather than sets of rules made by others. And may we recognize that we are living in a time of great abundance when we can all have what we truly desire without harming others.
