‘Balloon boy’ incident may lead to charges filed: Was it a hoax planned by Richard Heene?

TMZ reports that the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department intends to file charges against the Heenes in the “Balloon Boy” incident. TMZ says that Sheriff Jim Alderden has stated that charges may be filed against both parents. These charges would involve filing a false police report, but TMZ also reports that more charges could be filed should the DA determine so.
Gawker held an exclusive interview with Robert Thomas an acquaintance of Richard Heene (father of Balloon boy, Falcon Heene), and Thomas stated that Richard had devised a scheme to create media hype surrounding a weather balloon. Thomas also worked with Heene to develop a plot for a new reality series. The Gawker interview is at: I helped Richard Heene Plan a Balloon Hoax.
Perhaps the “balloon boy” Falcon Henne incident was a hoax to get his inventor father some needed publicity. If you watch the video of the staged takeoff below, you too can ask, “Where is the box that was supposed to be attached to the bottom of the balloon?”
When Wolf Blitzer interviewed the family on CNN, young Falcon speaks the truth,
“We did this for the show.'
