Williams, Arizona is known for its quaint downtown area and the home of the Grand Canyon Railway. Both are featured in holiday events in the northern Arizona town. Here's the details...
Christmas on Route 66
“The magic of Christmas in Williams” tree lighting ceremony was awarded the “2007 Governors Award for the Best Rural Event in Northern Arizona” by the Arizona Office of Tourism. The Saturday November 28, 2009 event will include the Williams Light Parade starting at 7pm followed by the tree lighting ceremony.
Strolling Dickens Carolers will get you in the mood for Christmas as you get your blanket and hot chocolate and find your spot along Route 66 to view the many entries brightly decorated with colorful lights and festive music. Then make your way to the center of town as Santa lights the official 2009 Williams town Christmas tree.
Also while you’re in town, make a day of it. Enjoy tubing and playing in the snow in the Kaibab National Forest and horse-drawn carriage rides down Main Street.
Grand Canyon Railway's Polar Express
From This Friday, November 13th to January 9th, the Grand Canyon Railway’s Polar Express comes to life when the train departs the Williams Depot for a journey through the dark and quiet wilderness for a special visit to the "North Pole." I rode this last year with my family. Read details about the experience HERE.
