Smile if you're doing alright.

My girlfriend recently told me that she wanted to smile more.

Do you know how much pressure that puts on me? Making someone smile, especially someone you spend all day with, is an arduous task, to say the least.

I tried everything, including sitting her down and explaining hockey to her, which should have been hilarious since I know as much about hockey as I do about making girls smile. Needless to say, hockey didn't do the trick.

But then I stumbled across a solution. Technically, a smile is just an upside down frown. So all I had to do to get my girlfriend to smile more often was to turn the frown upside down.

Accordingly, I am currently encouraging her to stand on her head for multiple hours in a day. At the very least, it's making me smile a whole lot more.

And to make you smile, here's a look at what went down over the weekend in the wild world of college sports.

  • It took Texas 25 innings and seven hours and three minutes to beat Boston College 3-2 in the longest baseball game in NCAA history.
  • This is what we call bringing a bazooka to a water gun fight. Florida State beat Ohio State 37-6, setting or tying 18 NCAA, school or postseason baseball records.
  • What recession? According to University of Florida president, football coach Urban Meyer will be getting a raise soon to make him the highest paid coach in the SEC.
  • While traveling in China, Kentucky coach John Calipari will call into an NCAA meeting to defend the improprieties of his former Memphis team, which won 38 wins in 2007-2008 and reached the NCAA Finals but might have been playing with a player who cheated on the SATs.
  • On the job for less than half a year, New Mexico football coach Mike Locksley is already fighting off claims of sexual harassment, age discrimination and retaliation by a former administrative assistant. Now that's getting off to a fast start.
  • Former starting quarterback Zack Asack was kicked off the Blue Devil football team for unspecified reasons. Asack had already been suspended from the team once for plagiarism. Maybe he needs a quick sit down with Greg Paulus to resolve those character issues.
  • Tennessee football fans are not afraid to threaten their quarterback with death if he fails to perform up to their high standards.
  • A walk off grand slam sends the Florida softball team to the Women's College World Series final.
