If you've ever been to a major sporting event you know that there's nothing worse than stadium/arena security. They're big and dumb and have a serious authority complex . For however long the game lasts they are in control, and they want everyone to know who's the boss before they go back to being a bouncer at LuLu's Gentlemen's Club.
The East Carolina students got a little taste of stadium security last week after their team's upset of West Virginia. As the clock ran out on the Pirates' 24-3 victory, ECU students streamed onto the field to celebrate only to be thrown to the ground and pummeled by law enforcement personnel who were working the game.
Okay, but how bad was it? I mean, shouldn't a school be able to protect its field and players?
Security's actions were bad enough for ECU chancellor Steve Ballard to label the incident "the most disappointing and shocking I've witnessed in my more than four years here."
The solution: ECU will use only local police to protect the field from here on out.
My question: Do local cops treat college students better than county cops?
