If you take the No. 4 train in The Bronx, between 7am and 8am, you may have noticed that your morning commute was about 4 minutes shorter this morning. If you are reading this and you are not a New Yorker, you may be thinking "What difference can 4 minutes make?" However, anyone who frequents the New York City subway system knows all too well that gaining 4 minutes in your morning commute can be a day-changing saving grace!
Until June 26th, the No. 4 line will be running express from Woodlawn to 149th Street and Grand Concourse during the line's busiest hour, 7am-8am on weekdays. This means that the train will breeze by 9 stops that are part of the local schedule. MTA is piloting the The Bronx No. 4 express as part of an initiative to improve one of their most overcrowded lines.
Although the No. 4 line runs express in Manhattan and Brooklyn, The Bronx has waited too long to enjoy this luxury. Let's hope it lasts!
