New series: Eye on the Future
Wellness in the Technology Age
Whether it’s the surging rush of a hot flash, a joint injury during a football game or heat exhaustion, finding a source of cool temperature is the best relief. But when ice is not always readily accessible, what option do people have? Something even better.
An innovative device called SUN/ICE™ offers instant body temperature control at the press of a button. This cell phone sized “smart gadget” acts as a personal cooling and heating system using a patented electronic chip originally designed for the aerospace program.
The distributors, Alura Intelligent Products, offer SUN/ICE as a solution to leaky chemicals and squishy gel packs that thaw too quickly. Instead, this revolutionary Green technology uses electricity to create hot or cold.
"It works on the principle of opposites, an action has a reaction," explains Robert Doornick, founder and president of International Robotics Inc., a private company that incubates technological inventions and helps bring them to market.
The device works using polarity and ventilation, similar to how a central air conditioner works in a home, said Doornick - one side has to become hot to have the energy to create cold, with an exhaust system to remove hot or cold air. Like a yin yang effect, while one side of the SUN/ICE is hot, the other is cool.
The product is manufactured as a simple battery operated unit, or people who are not on the move can optionally use an AC adaptor to run the SUN/ICE directly from a wall outlet.
“This new technological wizardry is certain to revolutionize the consumer world and particularly the health care industry”, adds Doornick.
This portable refrigerator/heater combo has a variety of applications, from combating outdoor temperature extremes and emergency medical attention, to soothing aching muscles, relieving hot flashes and even provides relief for pets.
Patents have already been applied for in a number of other applications, including:
Technology of the future converges with technology of the past. By miniaturizing the mechanical and electrical processes of heating and cooling, Sun/Ice brings the future of healthcare and wellness into the present.
The device is currently available through Alura Intelligent Products, Inc. and will become mass manufactured in the U.S. in 2009. To find out where to purchase a Sun/Ice, contact: Alura Intelligent Products, Inc: info@internationalrobotics.com.
