Recognizing October as Breast Cancer Awareness month offers people a chance to consider the way breast cancer impacts women’s lives, the fight against causes and risk factors, and the ever evolving treatments that are in turn, impacting the disease.

If you’re a woman and aren't as familiar as you think you ought to be, the following list -  compiled of some of the most popular breast care awareness and research sites on the net - will get you started.

Browse through; be informed.

Breastcancer.org - this non-profit is completely dedicated to breast cancer awareness and education. Guaranteed up-to-date information on a wide range of topics and categories.

Komen.org - this huge grassroots organization, the same one that hosts Race for the Cure events across the nation is the legendary Susan G. Komen Foundation. Stay informed on the latest trends in treatment, research and advocacy.

Cancer.gov - Keep up with research as it's generated with the National Cancer Institute. Learn everything from definitions of cancer terms to clinical trials to research on risk factors.

Medline Plus - For hard facts and statistics, as well as detailed information on risk factors, symptoms and treatment, count on this site from the National Insitutes of Health (NIH).

Nationalbreastcancer.org - This site for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. is a comprehensive resource guide for women, whether a family member of someone with breast cancer, recently diagnosed, or simply interested in early detection.
