This week, individuals, organizations, business and institutions have been celebrating Earth Day. Respect for Creation is both a necessity and moral practice.  In addition to these, Catholics propose that respect for Creation may be a religious obligation.
Supported by the Unites States Catholic Conference of Bishops, environmentally conscious Catholics launched the Catholic Climate Covenant website. The website is merely one of many expressions of the Catholic community’s ever-growing commitment to the environment.
One of the features of the site is the invitation for believers and others of a similar mind-set to take the St. Francis Pledge. The pledge is named after Francis of Assisi who has been described by the Humane Society as the first advocate for Earth Day. Visit their site and take the pledge.
