Today is supposed to be in the 90’s and the air quality is not too bad. It is a perfect day for water balloons! You can find water balloons at any dollar store, Kroger, Publix, Target, Walmart, or Ingles.
What you need:
Water
Water balloons.
Bucket.
What it does:
It is a stimulating activity where the child deals with the impact of the balloons and the sensation of getting wet. It encourages throwing and using hand eye coordination.
For a high functioning child: Have them help you fill the balloons! Have them count the balloons at they fill them and identify the colors of the balloons. Then when you are outside, throw the balloons at your child. Also have them throw the balloons too. Make a game of it by getting your child to throw the water balloons into the bucket without breaking them.
For the low functioning child: Having your child simply hold the balloon and feel the giggly sensation of the water inside the balloon is stimulating. You can help them squeeze the balloon until it pops. Also, help them throw the balloon at the bucket and cheer when it breaks.
Remember, this is an activity that can be adapted to all ability levels. The point of this is for sensory stimulation and to just have fun!
