Do you need a fun, family activity that will occupy both kids and adults? Geocaching may be the thing for your family.
This is a game, like a scavenger hunt, where you have clues and you follow them to the prize! The prize is just a box, but it has a stamp inside....so you stamp your "passport" and have the proof that you found that you found this particular one. You also leave YOUR stamp, so they have the record you were there.
For at least 100 years, there has been a game called "letterboxing" - which is still around. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geocaching This has clues that anyone could follow if they have common sense. Today, however, many like to use the GPS (Global Positioning System) to locate their prizes. There are many websites that can help you begin, and even some with the old fashioned letterboxing games.
You get outdoors, have to think a little, and can relax together in nature. Not a bad idea! Many have conventions where fellow Geo-cachers gather and you could even MEET the creator of a puzzle you solved.
After you try a few, you can even make your own and go later to see how many were at your spot.
It is a great pass-time for all ages.
